Mr. Steve Buche (MBA) has 17 years of experience leading Information Technology Departments by aligning technology and business initiatives for major companies in global manufacturing, not-for-profit healthcare and government agencies at the state level. His technical background includes enterprise architecture and infrastructure, hardware and software development, lean initiatives, telecommunications and security and project management. He holds a Bachelor’s in Management from the University of Illinois Springfield and an MBA from Robert Morris University.
Mr. Buche joined the State of Illinois in 2015 as the Chief Information Officer for the Department of Insurance where the Information Technology Team has made great strides in eliminating legacy applications, implementing industry best practices and reducing overall operating costs.
Now, as a Cluster CIO for the Department of Innovation and Technology, a billion dollar start-up, Mr. Buche oversees the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency, Historical Preservation, Arts Council and the Pollution Control Board. Across these six agencies, Mr. Buche directs 50 IT professionals and provides oversight to 1,700 technology professionals and 65,000 state employees which serve 13 million residents throughout the State.
Mr. Ryan Case (MBA) believes in creating something special each day through authentic leadership, strong work ethic, and relationship building. Daily challenges serve as an opportunity to perform at his best, learn something new and empower others to do the same. Mr. Case creates cohesive environments focused on diversity of thought and inclusion. He views innovation with an entrepreneurial spirit and treats business outcomes with a vested interest.
Mr. Case obtained an MBA from Illinois State University in December of 2010. Completing a full-time graduate program and simultaneously working full-time has provided him with the confidence to take on highly demanding assignments. He has substantial expertise in risk, security and compliance and has completed many of the highest regarded industry certifications. Mr. Case is actively working towards the CPCU designation and has received instant benefits on the job from this curriculum. His education with the Direct Marketers Association (DMA) has helped provide a foundation of understanding of customer expectations and behaviors.
Mr. David Knoup has worked as a leader in the IT industry for over 15 years. From 2000 to 2009 he co-owned a company that was eventually sold to Ticomix, Inc. He now works as Director of Application Development for that company. Mr. Knoup prides himself in running a tight knit team that consistently leads the company in productivity. Beyond this, he is also an advocate for continuing education in individuals' chosen fields. He regularly attends training related to the newest developments in IT and encourages his teammates to do the same.
Ms. Christina Ola is the Founder and President of Good Knight, a non-profit organization to raise a community above sexual violence. Her passion began while she attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. Alongside great peers and leaders, they began a movement that spoke out about the challenges of sexual violence and how it can be overcome. While in Chicago, Ms. Ola was the City Coordinator for DialogueDirect’s fundraising team. She has had the opportunity to fund raise on behalf of Children International, ASPCA, The Nature Conservancy and ChildFund. Now in Bloomington, Ms. Ola is the Director of Recruitment and Selection at Northwestern Mutual. In this role, her goal is to partner with driven individuals to build fulfilling careers that will better our community. Moving forward, Ms. Ola is excited for the lasting impact and influence she can create for others.
Mr. Marc Poirier is the General Manager for Abbey Placements, a second generation locally owned and operated staffing company. He works hard to provide a high quality workforce to other businesses in Central Illinois. Mr. Poirier is an Ambassador for the McLean County Chamber of Commerce as well as a member of the NEXT Professionals. He is an active Rotarian in the BN Sunrise Rotary, the Board Facilitator for the Bloomington chapter of HOPE worldwide and a Family Group Leader at the Bloomington Church of Christ. Mr. Poirier has been married to his wife Gina for 10 years. They have three kids: James (7), Jonathan (6), and Grace (3). They are also in the process of adopting a girl from Bulgaria.

It’s time to take a break and have some fun!! The MBA Association is hosting a Trivia Night, Friday, February 24th from 5-7pm in the SFHB Atrium. Teams of 2 non-association members can sign up for $10 at the event and topics covered will include pop culture, sports, ISU facts and more! Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be provided and will include gift cards from Amazon, Chipotle and Chick-fil-A. Free pizza will be provided for everyone! We hope you’ll take a break and join us for some fun!
